Claire Elise Boucher (/bu:'SeI/ boo-SHAY; born 17 March in 1988) is professionally known as Grimes, is an Canadian musician who sings, writes songs, and record producer. The early work of her was described as moving beyond "lo-fi R&B" to futuristic dance-pop. [4] She's also taken influences from electronic music, hip hop, and rock. Her songs often incorporate science-fiction as well as feminist themes in her lyrics. The band has released five albums. Grimes was raised in Vancouver before moving to Montreal in 2000. Grimes started releasing her music in solo fashion at the beginning of 2000. There were albums out through Arbutus Records in 2010, Geidi Primes and Halfaxa in 2010. She subsequently was signed to 4AD and gained notoriety following the release of their third studio album Visions which came out in the year 2012. Visions features the singles "Genesis" as well as "Oblivion", and was presented with"Oblivion" with the Juno Award in Canada for Electronic Album of the year. The fourth album of her studio Art Angels was released in 2015. The album was highly acclaimed from reviewers and numerous publications voted it the best album of the year. 6. Her fifth studio album Miss Anthropocene, was made available in the year 2000. Outside of the music industry, Grimes had a voice role in the 2020 action role-playing video game Cyberpunk 2077 and is a judge on the music competition game program Alter Ego.
